Hostel Administrator Job Summary

This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of a residential hostel, ensuring student safety and well-being.


Key Responsibilities
  • Hostel Administration:
    • Ensure the proper functioning of hostel infrastructure, maintenance, housekeeping, and catering services
    • Manage room allotment and record-keeping for hostel occupancy
    • Maintain hygienic conditions and ensure all hostel facilities are in good working order
  • Student Welfare & Discipline:
    • Maintain discipline, order, and decorum among hostel residents
    • Provide support and counseling to students as needed
    • Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students within hostel premises
    • Enforce hostel rules, regulations, and code of conduct
  • Coordination & Supervision:
    • Supervise support staff including ward boys, housekeeping, and security personnel
    • Coordinate with mess staff to ensure quality food service and timely meals
    • Communicate effectively with university administration on hostel-related matters
    • Organize hostel activities, orientation, and community-building events
  • Safety & Security:
    • Evaluate and improve hostel security arrangements
    • Implement effective visitor management and restriction of unauthorized entry
    • Respond promptly during emergencies (medical, safety, or disciplinary)
    • Comply with fire safety and health regulations

    Eligibility Criteria
    • Bachelor's / Master's degree (preferably in Management, Social Sciences, Education, or related field)
    • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Hostel Administrator / similar role (experience in an educational institution preferred)
    • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
    • Ability to handle emergencies with calmness and responsibility
    • Proficiency in MS Office and record-keeping
