**Job Overview**

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing, optimizing, and scaling PostgreSQL databases in a Kubernetes-based environment that utilizes sharding and pods for high availability and distributed workloads.

The successful candidate will have deep technical expertise, an ownership mindset, and hands-on experience working with mission-critical, high-throughput database systems.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available PostgreSQL clusters

• Manage sharded database architecture and performance across multiple pods in Kubernetes

• Optimize database performance, indexing, query tuning, and vacuuming strategies

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues including replication, failover, and storage

• Automate backups, recovery plans, and database provisioning

• Ensure database security, access control, and compliance with client policies

• Collaborate with DevOps and application teams to ensure smooth database operations and integrations

• Participate in incident management and on-call support for database-related production issues

• Perform database capacity planning, data partitioning, and archiving strategies

**Required Skills & Qualifications:**

• 8+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration

• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning, replication, and backup/restore mechanisms

• Experience with database sharding, partitioning, and horizontal scaling

• Solid understanding of AWS services such as EC2, EKS, RDS, Aurora, S3, CloudWatch

• Proficient in writing SQL, PL/pgSQL, and automation scripts (Bash, Python, etc.)

• Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, or pgBadger

• Experience integrating with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

• Strong understanding of database security, auditing, and access control
