Global Import Trade Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategic Planning: Lead and manage the import ocean freight operations for FCL, LCL, and consolidation. Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and improve operational efficiency.
  • Negotiation and Partnership Development: Develop pricing strategies, negotiate rates with carriers, and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.
  • Import Shipment Coordination: Oversee pre-alerts, booking coordination, documentation, customs compliance, and end-to-end import shipment handling.
  • Internal Collaboration: Coordinate with internal departments (sales, documentation, customer service, and finance) to ensure timely cargo clearance and delivery.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local and international import regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and implement SOPs to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time for import processes.
  • Team Management: Manage and mentor the import operations team – allocate resources, set KPIs, monitor performance, and provide ongoing training.
  • Financial Management: Monitor departmental P&L, ensure cost control, and prepare regular budgets.
  • Business Development: Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to identify new opportunities and grow the import customer base.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Maintain high standards of customer service, promptly resolving issues and ensuring consistent client satisfaction.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Generate regular MIS/reports for senior management on import operations, cost efficiency, and process improvements.

Required Skills & Experience:

International Import Expertise: Strong knowledge of international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS.

Leadership and People Management: Excellent leadership and people management abilities.

Negotiation, Analytical, and Communication Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
