Job Description

We are seeking an experienced professional to manage and maintain our SQL database systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Install, upgrade, and migrate SQL Servers to ensure optimal performance.
  • Apply patches and service packs to maintain database security and stability.
  • Set up automated alerts to notify the team of any issues.
  • Work on incidents, change tickets, and problem tickets to resolve database-related problems.
  • Setup maintenance plans for backups, database integrity checks, rebuild indexes, update statistics, and ensure all jobs run without issues.
  • Troubleshoot locking issues, including deadlocks, blocking, lock timeouts, and fix them.
  • Join bridge calls to troubleshoot and fix P1 (SEV1) and P2 (SEV2) incidents.
  • Hands-on experience in Always On and DB Mirroring is required.
  • Execute all changes to db schema and maintain a controlled development database environment.
  • Work closely with application developers to test, configure, and optimize servers based on application demands.
  • Handle database object deployment to Integration, QA, UAT, and Production.
  • Provide day-to-day support for high OLTP HA of SQL Server databases - identify root causes of production problems and work with developers to resolve such problems.
  • Work on performance tuning like creating missing indexes.
  • Willingness to work in 24X7 projects (shifts) is essential.
  • Experience in scripting using Perl, PowerShell is required.
  • Experience in AWS/Azure is also necessary.
