Job Title

The role of an STP Operator is a crucial one, as they are responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). The primary goal is to operate and monitor the STP to maintain high standards of water quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and monitor the STP to ensure efficient functioning.
  • Check and maintain water quality parameters such as pH, BOD, COD, TDS, and DO.
  • Inspect and operate pumps, aerators, blowers, valves, filters, and other equipment.
  • Handle dosing of chemicals like chlorine, alum, and lime as per requirement.
  • Maintain records logs for flow rates, test results, chemical usage, and plant performance.

In addition to these key responsibilities, the successful candidate will also be expected to:

  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance and report any abnormalities or breakdowns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) standards.
  • Supervise sludge handling and maintain hygienic plant conditions.
  • Assess the quality of water entering the UF unit, evaluate filtration efficiency, and monitor fouling load and cleaning effectiveness.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of STP technologies, including SBR Process with UF Systems.
  • Ability to read meters and understand basic instrumentation.
  • Troubleshooting capability for minor equipment issues.
  • Willingsness to work in shifts and during emergency operations.
