Job Description

The Deputy General Manager of Finance role is a strategic leadership position that oversees the finance and accounts function, driving financial planning to align with operational and strategic goals. This demands strong leadership skills, deep industry knowledge, and the ability to oversee the development of financial strategies to support operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies that support shipbuilding and repair operations.
    • Drive budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure accurate financial planning.
    • Analyse financial performance and provide key insights for executive decision-making.
  • Accounting & Reporting:
    • Oversee accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory regulations.
    • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management information reports.
    • Lead internal and external audits and drive effective closure of audit points.
  • Cost Management & Project Accounting:
    • Improve project accounting systems for new builds and repair jobs.
    • Monitor project cost estimates, budgets, and actuals; identify variances and drive corrective actions.
    • Support pricing strategies and bid preparation for shipbuilding contracts.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
    • Ensure adherence to all applicable financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop internal controls and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Collaborate with legal, tax, and regulatory authorities as needed.
  • Treasury & Working Capital Management:
    • Optimise working capital, including inventory, receivables, and payables.
    • Evaluate financing options for capital expenditures and project needs.
    • Manage cash flows effectively.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and develop the finance team to achieve high performance and accountability.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and financial discipline.
