Project Cost Specialist Role

The role of a Project Cost Specialist is crucial in maintaining the financial stability and health of projects. This includes monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on project costs across various phases to ensure alignment with budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Analysis and Control: Monitor, analyze, and report on project costs for large-scale EPC projects.
  • Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Collaborate with project teams to track progress and update percentage-of-completion calculations as per IFRS 15.
  • Contract Compliance and Financial Management: Ensure compliance with contractual agreements and project-specific financial regulations.
  • Inventory and Procurement Cost Optimization: Work with procurement to control and analyze material and service costs.
  • Risk Management and Cost Minimization: Identify potential risks related to project costs, including scope changes, delays, or unexpected expenses.
  • Fixed Assets Management: Track, record, and monitor fixed assets (e.g., machinery, equipment) at the project site to ensure proper utilization and maintenance.
  • Financial Performance Reporting: Prepare regular financial and cost reports, analyzing project expenses, and forecasting costs for project budgeting purposes.
