Job Title: Bunker Operations Manager
Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Bunker Operations Manager. This role will be responsible for managing and optimizing the bunker supply chain, ensuring that all operated vessels have the required stock of bunkers, with emphasis on the right grade, to safely and timely reach the next feasible port.
The successful candidate will be part of a 24x7 team consisting of several ex-Master Mariners, Engineers, and will be responsible for driving stock on board to the optimal level to minimize locked-in capital cost while ensuring that bunker top-ups are reduced or eliminated.
Candidates with experience in container operations and a strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and identify opportunities for improvement would be extremely beneficial.
A basic understanding of marine fuel grades would be an added advantage.
Main Responsibilities- Manage and optimize the bunker supply chain to ensure safe and timely delivery of bunkers to all operated vessels.
- Drive stock on board to the optimal level to minimize locked-in capital cost and reduce bunker top-ups.
- Liaise closely with key global and regional stakeholders to drive appropriate bunker supply.
- Provide subject matter expertise on bunker emission assessments.
- Collaborate with Transported by Maersk to ensure strong engagement and avoid schedule disruptions impacting bunker consumption.
- Develop and implement bunker saving initiatives in close coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Educate vessel management on the correct use of the Vessel Bunker program where required.
- Engage with Energy Trading through regular meetings and provide feedback on current tools and systems towards automation.
- Support Bunker Optimization projects to ensure smooth integration in day-to-day execution and identify new ways to automate and refine current processes for more efficient operations.
- Maintain the Bunker Operations Desk and hotline appropriately manned based on the agreed shift plan.
- Apply the Maersk Line Operating System within the own team and the greater organization, and adopt continuous improvement methodology at Maersk Bunker Operations (MBO) while reducing waste.
- Develop engagement between MBO, TbM, and MOT to support End-to-End focus.
- Support the Bunker Operations Team Manager in delivering uninterrupted operations and creating value while managing network operating costs.
- Ensure safety gets priority in all daily operations and work to reduce any exceptions and ensure lessons are learned and shared in the team through root cause analysis.
