Visual Communications Specialist

This role involves working with scientists, universities, and organizations to convert complex scientific ideas into engaging content and visuals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in graphic design and be able to develop visually appealing graphical abstracts, read and comprehend scientific manuscripts, and work closely with researchers and clients to refine visual representations.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing storyboards that outline the visual narrative, ensuring alignment with the scientific content and client objectives.
  • Generating rough sketches to illustrate initial visual concepts.
  • Reviewing peers' and freelancers' outputs to ensure they meet client expectations and are delivery-ready.

The qualifications for this role include:

  • A graduate or Ph.D. degree in a STEM field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in scientific graphic designing, communicating science and complex research into visually engaging output.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop).
  • Creativity and attention to detail.

An understanding of the scientific publishing landscape is essential.
