Accessibility Specialist

Our organization seeks a highly skilled Accessibility Specialist to ensure our digital presence meets the highest standards of accessibility. In this role, you will be responsible for auditing and testing websites, portals, LMS, documents, and multimedia content to identify areas for improvement.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct automated and manual audits using industry-standard tools and techniques.
  • Test websites, mobile apps, and digital documents with screen readers and other assistive technologies.
  • Remediate identified issues by providing clear, prioritized fixes and hands-on support.
  • Guide developers on accessible coding practices and recommend improvements to our existing processes.
  • Prepare VPATs/ACRs and client-facing accessibility conformance documentation.
  • Advise clients on ADA, Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2, and emerging US/state accessibility laws.
  • Support quarterly monitoring and ongoing compliance programs.


Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2, ADA Title II/III, Section 504/508.
  • Hands-on experience with JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, Axe, WAVE, SiteImprove, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, ARIA, CSS3, JavaScript (React/Angular a plus).
  • Strong documentation/reporting skills (audit findings, VPAT/ACR).
  • Experience supporting federal, state, or higher education contracts preferred.


Preferred Certifications:

  • IAAP CPWA (Certified Professional in Web Accessibility)
  • IAAP WAS (Web Accessibility Specialist)
  • IAAP ADS (Accessible Document Specialist)
  • DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester
  • IAAP CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies)
