Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and evaluating mechanical systems associated with coal and natural gas fired power generation facilities, as well as associated support facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in piping design, pump selection, rotating equipment and process design. Additionally, they should be proficient in software such as AFT Arrow, AFT Fathom, SmartPlant P&ID, and SmartPlant Review.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing and evaluating mechanical systems for power generation facilities
  • Developing system requirements, instrumentation and control requirements, and control logic
  • Performing hydraulic calculations, including pump selection, sizing, and application
  • Selecting control valves and defining their requirements
  • Coordinating project design assignments and design teams
  • Reviewing and approving detailed pipe routing and drawings
  • Administering equipment contracts, including change evaluation, coordination of schedules, and technical issues
  • Preparing deliverables such as process flow diagrams, P&IDs, valve lists, line lists, and standard detail sheets
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited program
  • Minimum 6-8 years of related experience in fossil generation, with exposure to piping design, pump selection, rotating equipment, and process design
  • Proficient in English language and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with power industry codes and standards, including ASME B31.1, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections I and Section VIII
