Purchasing managers play a critical role in securing optimal quality at the most cost-effective price.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To purchase high-quality products at the lowest possible cost.
  • To ensure timely delivery of materials to sites and payment to suppliers on schedule.

Main accountabilities:

  • To identify alternative or new products in the market, conduct cost-benefit analysis, and present findings to management.
  • End-to-end procurement of assigned materials, ensuring timely delivery to sites and prompt payment to suppliers.
  • To optimize inventory levels by adjusting lot sizes and reducing lead times for deliveries.
  • To transfer excess stock to other locations as needed.
  • To build relationships with vendors by researching their performance in the market and collaborating on improvement initiatives.
  • To coordinate effectively across all sites through regular site visits.
  • To establish strong networks within and outside the organization.
  • To continuously monitor, review, and take corrective action to achieve targets.

Candidate requirements:

  • Expertise in construction materials.
  • Experience in handling end-to-end procurement of assigned materials and ensuring timely delivery to sites and payment to suppliers.
  • Preferably experienced in high-rise building projects.
  • To enhance product value, make annual rate contracts, and explore alternative products/vendors or substitute OEMs.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills for effective coordination across all sites.
  • Control inventory levels by optimizing lot sizes and reducing delivery lead times.
  • This is a research-oriented job that requires continuous monitoring, review, and corrective action to achieve targets.
