Job Overview:

As a Valuations Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and control of all aspects of the valuation process. This involves performing monthly and intra-month Independent Price Verification (IPV) to ensure accuracy and consistency in valuing trading portfolios.

The role also involves developing and implementing valuation reserve methodologies, analyzing key valuation uncertainty issues, and working closely with risk management partners globally.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Performing IPV, Fair Value adjustments, FVA reserves, and Prudential Valuations calculations for various products such as Bonds, Loans, Swaps, Securitized Products, Derivatives, and other Interest Rates products.
  • Reporting and providing analysis of pricing variance drivers, performing due diligence on market data from multiple sources, and taking ownership of processes and models.
  • Thoroughly understanding financial and mathematical concepts and making changes and improvements in consultation with stakeholders if necessary.
  • Increasing process efficiency by automating manual steps, coordinating with teams to increase efficiency, and developing strong relationships with product control, risk management, and quantitative departments.
  • Ensuring controls around completeness and accuracy, adherence to key operating procedures, and discussing results with regional valuation teams, desks, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Several years of experience in valuation or market risk roles within a large investment bank, with in-depth knowledge of Credit, Rates, or Currency markets.
  • Specific exposure to IPV, reserving, pricing, and modelling aspects of valuation control is preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, VBA, and possibly Python, hands-on experience of market data providers, including Reuters, Bloomberg, ISMA, and Markit.
  • Good communication skills.
