Furniture Design Career Opportunity

Our company is seeking an experienced Furniture Designer to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to create innovative design concepts in solid wood, aligning with our manufacturing strengths.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching customer preferences through past sales data, social media, and international market trends. They will develop new concepts that meet the needs of our global customers, utilizing their expertise in CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, or Rhino.

  • Research customer preferences through past sales data, social media, and international market trends
  • Create original design concepts in solid wood (Mango, Oak, Acacia, Teak) aligned with our export strengths
  • Draft production-ready drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Rhino, or similar CAD tools
  • Collaborate with merchandising and sourcing teams to translate concepts into viable collections
  • Work with prototyping teams to refine joinery, finishes, ergonomics, and structural integrity
  • Incorporate KD (knock-down) joinery, export packaging standards, and compliance requirements
  • Develop design boards, line sheets, and client presentations for export buyers

This position requires strong skills in CAD tools, knowledge of global furniture trends, and the ability to translate abstract research into commercially viable designs. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and presentation skills.

Bonus skills include experience with reclaimed or sustainable wood materials, understanding of packaging and shipping for exports, familiarity with American and European design preferences, and prior experience with export-oriented furniture markets.

Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in furniture design, preferably in solid wood
  • Strong skills in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Rhino, etc.)
  • Knowledge of global furniture trends, ergonomics, finishing techniques, and joinery
  • Ability to translate abstract research into commercially viable designs
  • Good communication and presentation skills
