
Culinary Team Lead

Key Responsibilities:
- Culinary Team Lead: Oversees and evaluates team members to ensure high performance standards.
- Culinary Expertise: Possesses extensive food knowledge and a deep understanding of culinary terms to maintain quality and consistency in taste.
- Task Completion and Efficiency: Must be proficient in completing tasks, work efficiently, and productively while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Team Coordination: Coordinates and supervises all team members assigned to their section, assigns and delegates tasks accordingly to ensure smooth operations.
Financial Management:
- Cost Control: Responsible for cost containment through proper use, handling, and maintenance of records, reports, supplies, and equipment.
- Expense Reduction: Identifies potential expense reductions through cost control and analyzes operational problems to establish controls.
- Reporting and Record-Keeping: Reviews timesheets, forwards them to the executive chef for approval, and prepares various reports and letters utilizing personal computer systems and equipment.
Motivational Leadership:
- Staff Development: Monitors and manages workstation functions, monitors duty assignments and staff responsibilities, and observes and evaluates staff and work procedures to ensure quality standards and service are met.
- Promotions and Terminations: Makes recommendations regarding personnel actions such as new hire requests and discharges to ensure adequate and continuous staffing.
- Workplace Inspection: Inspects workstations, work areas, equipment, etc., to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship, or convention banqueting service and at least 2 years as a Culinary Team Lead (shipboard experience preferred).
- A culinary school degree is required, along with very strong management skills in a multicultural and dynamic environment.
- Very strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills are necessary for this role.
- Superior customer service, teambuilding, and conflict resolution skills are essential.
