Job Description:

The Legal Officer is responsible for providing expert legal counsel to the organization, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, managing litigation, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and advising on policy development to protect the organization's interests. Their role involves maintaining legal integrity within the institution by handling legal disputes, coordinating with external legal advisors, and contributing to the formulation of internal policies.

  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice on various matters to senior management and ensure the organization adheres to all relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and vet legal documents, including contracts and agreements with external parties.
  • Coordinate with external legal advisors and standing counsels on court matters, preparing responses to grievances and attending court when necessary.
  • Monitor and manage internal legal processes, update existing internal policies, and help formulate and implement new ones.
  • Serve as a member secretary for committees, such as the Committee Against Sexual Harassment, and handle internal disputes from a legal perspective.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in law (LLB or LLM) from a recognized institution with Bar Council registration.
  • Minimum of six years of experience is required as an advocate or working in the legal department of an organization preferably in the education sector demonstrating hands-on application of legal knowledge.
  • Possesses strong analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills, along with excellent oral and written communication abilities. Knowledge of Telugu is a must.
