Backend Engineer Opportunity

Overview:

We are looking for a talented Backend Engineer to join our team and take ownership of the API Federation layer of our platform. This role is focused on creating a unified API that will orchestrate our customers' multi-cloud networks.

As the architect of our developer experience, you will be responsible for abstracting the power and complexity of our underlying services from cloud-native APIs to software-defined interconnects into an elegant interface.

Your mission is to build a federated API that is powerful yet simple enough for developers to delight in using.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain a federated GraphQL schema that composes multiple microservices into a single data graph for our customers.
  • Implement and manage our API Gateway infrastructure (e.g., Kong, Tyk), ensuring it is scalable, secure, and highly available.
  • Develop backend services in Go, Python, or Node.js that act as an orchestration layer, translating simple API calls into complex workflows interacting with diverse downstream systems.
  • Create and maintain world-class public-facing API documentation.
  • Champion API design best practices across the engineering organization to ensure consistency and ease of use.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in backend software engineering, with a focus on API development and integration.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Go, Python, or Node.js.
  • Hands-on experience building, deploying, and managing API Gateways such as Kong or Tyk.
  • Deep understanding of GraphQL, including schema design, resolvers, and federation concepts.
  • Proven experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems principles.
