Tactical Purchasing Specialist

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tactical Purchasing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our procurement department, you will be responsible for implementing tactical purchasing strategies that drive business growth and profitability.

  • Job Responsibilities:
  • Extract and analyze data from Open PO Reports to inform procurement decisions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate prices, delivery times, and other contractual terms.
  • Update enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems with confirmation dates and other relevant information.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders to resolve purchase order-related issues.
  • Analyze supply and demand trends to determine optimal inventory levels and stock replenishment needs.
  • Implement exception messages in SAP, Oracle, and other ERP systems as necessary.
  • Liaise with global stakeholders to ensure material availability and manage supplier relationships.
  • Lead the Supplier Relationship Management process to improve supplier responsiveness and reduce lead times.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure timely payment to suppliers.
  • Complete material master setup and associated activities to ensure accurate inventory tracking.
  • Requisition to PO conversion for MRO items to optimize procurement processes.
  • Validate supplier lead times based on delivery schedules and other factors.
  • Coordinate material master data audits to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Communicate with plant/site buyers to provide updates on actions and resolutions.
  • Support the team in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual management reports for customers and suppliers.
  • Raise supplier delivery issues to PIC Manager (Supply Chain Manager) and planning teams.
  • Stay up-to-date on parked/blocked invoice reports and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Negotiate with vendors to acquire the best cost and delivery requirements while supporting inventory turns.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of professional experience in purchasing/procurement/supply chain or casting, forging, machining.
  • Knowledge in strategic sourcing methodology, supply chain management, contracting, procurement, and supplier management skills.
  • Experience working with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle.
  • Excellent digital literacy and technical proficiency, including significant data gathering skills, expertise, interpretation, and reporting for the supply chain organization.
  • Strong problem-solving & analytical skills with expertise in data analysis and management (Advanced Excel, Tableau, Power BI, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, PowerPoint, SQL).
  • Self-motivated.
Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in supply chain management, engineering, business management, or any related field.
  • Experience in project management and project management certification are an added advantage.
Working Hours

The successful candidate will work flexible hours, which may include:

12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 4:30 PM to 1:30 AM.
