Job Description:

As a Senior Cassandra Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing our data storage platforms. You will build and scale production services and server farms across multiple global data centers and public cloud providers.

We are seeking a skilled team player who can collaborate with us to manage both our production SQL-based and Cassandra/NoSQL databases. This includes managing high-transaction rate databases, including configuration, administration, monitoring, security management, performance optimization, replication, troubleshooting, and backup of traditional SQL databases and NoSQL databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborating with our team members to manage production databases
  • Managing high-transaction rate databases, including configuration, administration, and security management
  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading nodes in customer production clusters
  • Managing a 24x7 international multi-site production infrastructure powering our services
  • Ensuring proper monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and reporting in the production environment
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in designing, maintaining, and administering NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB)
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in designing, maintaining, and administering traditional SQL-based databases (MySQL, MariaDB, Percona)
  • Experience managing Kafka message bus infrastructures strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven track record of evangelizing technical best practices
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience required
