Cloud Infrastructure Specialist

Description:

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Infrastructure Specialist to manage, optimize, and secure our cloud environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cloud administration, database management, performance tuning, security, and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cloud Administration: Manage cloud accounts, users, roles, and permissions following RBAC principles.
  2. Performance Optimization: Monitor query performance, optimize resources, and tune workloads to ensure efficient execution.
  3. Data Management: Oversee databases, schemas, tables, and data pipelines in the cloud.
  4. Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices including encryption, data masking, network policies, and audit logging.
  5. Automation: Develop scripts for monitoring, alerting, and automating administrative tasks (SQL, Python, PowerShell, etc.).
  6. Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Track resource utilization, storage, and query performance; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  7. Cost Optimization: Manage compute and storage costs by monitoring consumption and implementing optimization strategies.
  8. Upgrades & Maintenance: Apply patches, monitor cloud updates, and ensure minimal downtime.
  9. Integration: Support integrations with ETL/ELT tools, BI platforms, and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  10. Documentation & Governance: Maintain detailed documentation of cloud configurations, policies, and standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2+ years of experience as a Cloud Administrator.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud features: Virtual Warehouses, Clustering, Time Travel, Data Sharing, Resource Monitors, Tasks, Streams.
  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting (Python, Shell, PowerShell).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and integrations.
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools (Airbyte, dbt, Fivetran, etc.).
  • Knowledge of data security & governance practices (RBAC, PII handling, compliance frameworks).
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced certification.
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or other IaC tools.
  • Familiarity with Datadog, Splunk, or other monitoring tools.
  • Hands-on experience in DevOps / CI-CD pipelines for data workflows.
  • Exposure to machine learning or advanced analytics workloads on the cloud.
