Editorial Position Overview

The role of Senior Editor, Quality Reading Material is based at our office in New Delhi and reports directly to the Program Coordinator, Quality Reading Material.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Organize workshops for writers and illustrators to produce new children's books every year.
  • Finalize, translate manuscripts into English, and edit content.
  • Coordinate with translators, authors, illustrators, designers, and other external stakeholders to produce high-quality reading materials.
  • Understand book printing and publishing aspects, providing technical guidance on the bidding and printing process.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Literacy program design.
  • As part of the QRM team, assist in defining criteria for engaging reading material for primary school grades.
  • Contribute to gap analysis for determining available reading materials in the market or schools and identify gaps.
  • Coordinate with Operations to ensure distribution of all reading materials to project areas.
  • Manage inventory of materials and complete regular reporting documents related to materials development & procurement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in literature/language/education/social sciences or equivalent.
  • Master's in literature/language/education/social sciences or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in developing good quality children educational/learning material.
  • Understanding of supplementary materials' impact on reading skills and habits.
  • Experience in developing teaching learning materials will be beneficial.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Key Requirements
  • Strong editing, writing, and translation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with various stakeholders.
  • Technical knowledge of book printing and publishing processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
