Job Description

This is a senior-level opportunity for experienced SQL Server professionals to work remotely and administer databases on-premises and Azure SQL.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer large-scale SQL Server databases, including planning, implementation, and oversight of Azure SQL Subscription services to ensure high availability and cost-efficiency.
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and monitoring to improve database efficiency.
  • Configure and maintain disaster recovery, backups, and high-availability solutions, such as Always On and Geo-Replication.
  • Implement and monitor security policies, access controls, and compliance standards to protect database assets.
  • Plan and execute database migrations from on-premises SQL Server to Azure SQL.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support CI/CD and database lifecycle management.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production issues and proactively address database health and capacity concerns.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and best practices for database administration.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA with strong knowledge of T-SQL, backup/recovery, replication, indexing, and security configurations.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Azure SQL Server and Azure SQL Subscription management.
  • Deep understanding of performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools and CI/CD pipelines related to database deployments.
  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
