Senior Oracle DBA Role Overview

The primary objective of this position is to lead the administration, optimization, and security of our Oracle database landscape. This includes mission-critical systems supporting enterprise applications such as SAP.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database administration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting for multiple Oracle databases in production, development, and QA environments.
  • Installation, upgrade, patching, and migration of Oracle databases, including platform and cross-version migrations.
  • Optimization of database performance using AWR, ASH, OEM, and advanced tuning techniques.
  • Management of high availability and disaster recovery configurations using Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
  • Implementation and testing of robust backup/recovery strategies using RMAN and/or third-party tools.
  • Automation of administrative tasks and reporting using shell scripting, PL/SQL, or Python.
  • Collaboration with SAP Basis teams to support SAP systems using Oracle, including performance tuning and backup coordination.
  • Ensuring database compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards (SOX, ISO, etc.).
  • Participation in capacity planning, infrastructure scaling, and cloud database strategy (OCI, AWS RDS, etc.).


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA in large-scale, enterprise-grade environments.
  • Hands-on expertise in:
  • Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and RMAN.
  • Performance tuning (SQL, instance-level).
  • Backup/recovery and storage management.
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and diagnostics.
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments, scripting, and automation.
  • Experience in both on-prem and cloud-based Oracle DB setups.
