About Madras Seva Sadan's House of Children
Established in Chennai, this special school offers education and vocational training for individuals with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.
The institution provides pre-vocational and vocational training programmes, including the NIOS curriculum, supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals.
Our goal is to support parents in their child's schooling journey by offering highly subsidised fees.
Who We Are Looking For:
We seek a skilled Speech and Language Therapist passionate about fostering inclusive education. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), providing instructional support tailored to students' unique needs, and adapting curriculum to ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students' speech, language, and communication abilities using standardised tests and informal evaluations.
- Develop and implement Individualised Therapy Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's specific needs and goals.
- Provide one-on-one and group therapy sessions to improve articulation, fluency, language comprehension, and expressive communication.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, occupational therapists, psychologists, and parents to support integrated student development.
- Monitor and document students' progress, adapting therapy plans as needed.
- Utilise Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools when appropriate.
- Educate staff and caregivers on communication strategies and support techniques.
- Participate in IEP meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
- Valid certification or license to practice as a Speech Therapist (as per local/state regulations).
- 3 to 7 years working with children and adults with multiple disabilities.
- Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
- Proficiency in English and Tamil.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and specialised instructional strategies.
- Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
