Job Title: Steering System Designer

A highly skilled and experienced Steering System Designer is required to join our team. This role will involve the design, evaluation, and optimization of steering systems for 4-wheeled vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and evaluate steering systems, including steering mechanisms and aggregates like steering linkages, rack and pinion, tie rod, steering column, bushes, and ball joint.

• Work out steering system hard points considering suspension hard points and optimize steering layout.

• Design and develop different steering systems, such as rack and pinion, center-take off, and bell crank.

• Create designs for collapsible steering columns, power steering systems, and 3D modeling & 2D drafting.

• Consider performance and durability aspects early in the design process and review, evaluate, and optimize designs.

• Understand and apply design for field service aspects and provide design support for field service.

• Consider cost elements and aspects in design parameters and specifications.

• Interfacing with design, validation, CAE, manufacturing, development, and service teams.

• Selection of materials.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Unigraphics, specifically modeling and assembly modules (highly critical).

• Good understanding of GD&T principles and process capabilities.

• Exposure to relevant design standards (IS, JIS, JASO, DIN, ISO).

• DFMEA knowledge and understanding.

• Familiarity with relevant manufacturing processes, such as forging, casting, and machining.

• Basic knowledge of metrology and capable of performing basic measurements.

Preferred Experience and Knowledge:

• Manufacturing aspects, tooling, and processes.
