About the Role:

As a seasoned professional in commercial real estate, you will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of properties, ensuring compliance with lender, tax, and investor requirements. You will work closely with 3rd party property teams who manage day-to-day accounting operations using accounting platform MRI. Your role will also involve collaboration with other departments, including Accounting, Acquisitions, Asset Management, Tax, and Finance.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Managing overall property level accounting, including reviewing 3rd party property accounting for consistency, accuracy, and proper accounting
  • Coordinating with 3rd Party Property Teams to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects
  • Preparing financial reports, including rent rolls and lease maintenance, cash management, and weekly check fundings
  • Reviewing and approving operating and tax escalations, annual estimates, quarterly and annual reconciliations, cost pools, expense caps, exclusions, gross ups, and base year calculations
  • Ensuring loan compliance, including debt service coverage ratio calculations, mortgage payments, lender reporting, loan and escrow draw, and preparing unaudited financial reports as required by ownership
  • Providing comprehensive audit support and preparing audited financial statements with footnotes (FV and Tax basis), as required

You will also be involved in joint venture accounting, reviewing and complying with operating agreements, and preparing financial reporting on a consolidation or combined level, as required. Additionally, you will calculate and process management fees, income allocations, and waterfalls, as needed.

Key skills and qualifications include:

  • 5-8 years of experience in property accounting, with a focus on commercial real estate
  • Experience with funds and/or joint ventures
  • Familiarity with fair value GAAP, tax accounting, IFRS, TRS (Taxable REIT Subsidiaries), and tenant recoveries (CAM)
  • Understanding of waterfall calculations and ability to prepare unaudited financial reports and audited financial statements with footnotes
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
