Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Cloud Database Engineer to join our team of Database Engineering Experts.

This role involves designing, implementing, and supporting technological solutions within cloud environments like Oracle/PostgreSQL for revenue-generating applications that drive business growth.

  • Database Architectures: Experience in PostgreSQL database schemas and design principles.
  • Performance Tuning: Extensive experience in PostgreSQL Performance Tuning and SQL optimization techniques.
  • Replication and Backup: Hands-on experience with Postgres replication, backup, recovery, and hot standby configurations.
  • Advanced SQL Skills: Expert-level SQL, PL/pgSQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
  • Community Tools: Familiarity with community-supported tools like Pgbadger, Slony, PGadmin, Pgpool, Pgbouncer, Pgbench, and Pgpartman.
  • RDS/Aurora Experience: Hands-on experience with RDS/Aurora database technologies on AWS.
  • Disaster Recovery: Experience with disaster recovery strategies, including multi-region failovers.
  • Resource Optimization: Ability to detect and troubleshoot database-related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space, and other resource contention issues. Proficiency with Linux for basic administrative tasks.
  • AWS Cloud Infrastructure: Experience working with AWS Cloud infrastructure, including EC2, Lambda, Systems Manager, CloudWatch, and SAM.
  • Cloud Security: Experience in maintaining cloud security IAM policies, secret management, and Key Management Service.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with CI/CD pipelines in AWS.
  • Development Experience: Extensive code development experience with Python, Bash, and Boto3 programming languages.
  • DevOps Tools: Knowledge of DevOps tools like AWS Cloud Formation Template and Git.
  • API Development: Knowledge of creating and managing REST APIs.
  • Database Migration: Experience with migrating databases from Oracle to PostgreSQL using AWS SCT and DMS services.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: Computer Science or technical degree preferred.
  • Experience: 6-8 years of experience, including providing support for mission-critical production databases, developing database engineering services for PostgreSQL databases on AWS.
  • PostgreSQL Expertise: Complete knowledge and experience in developing and automating PostgreSQL database services.
  • AWS Aurora/RDS: In-depth knowledge of AWS Aurora/RDS PostgreSQL databases and other AWS key services for database management.
  • Agile Development: Prior working experience using agile development frameworks and best practices.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make presentations to professional peers and work closely with management.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to learn rapidly, adapt quickly to changing situations, and display a high level of problem-solving skills.
