Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day activities of the hospital pharmacy, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include managing medication stock levels, supervising staff, and maintaining accurate records.

  • Operational Management
    • Coordinate daily pharmacy activities, including dispensing, billing, and inventory management.
    • Monitor medication availability, prevent stockouts, and maintain adequate levels of essential medications.
    • Ensure proper storage conditions for medicines as per regulations.
    • Oversee the movement of drugs, surgical items, and consumables into and out of the hospital.
  • Procurement & Inventory Control
    • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for timely procurement of medications and consumables.
    • Implement cost-saving measures without compromising on quality.
    • Monitor slow-moving, near-expiry, and non-moving stocks and take corrective action.
    • Conduct regular physical verification of stock and reconcile any discrepancies.
  • Compliance & Quality
    • E nsure pharmacy operations comply with laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
    • Maintain records of controlled substances, psychotropic substances, and high-value medications as required by law.
    • Verify prescriptions, promote rational drug use, and ensure patient safety protocols.
  • Team Management
    • Supervise pharmacists and support staff, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
    • Provide training, guidance, and continuous learning opportunities for pharmacy staff.
    • Schedule duties and manage manpower requirements effectively.
  • Financial & Reporting
    • Assist in preparing pharmacy budgets and monitoring expenses.
    • Analyze sales trends, consumption patterns, and prepare management information system reports.
    • Support audits (internal, external, statutory) and ensure timely resolution of non-conformities.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, familiarity with accreditation requirements, and excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Key qualifications include:

  • B. Pharm / M. Pharm / Pharm. D degree.
  • 5-8 years of hospital pharmacy experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Registered Pharmacist with the State Pharmacy Council.
