Job Description

This role requires a deep understanding of infrastructure management, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of complex systems.

A key aspect of this position is staying updated with the latest features, best practices, and industry trends related to WebSphere Application Server administration.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain the entire lifecycle of WebSphere Application Server installations, from initial setup to ongoing support and upgrades.
  • Develop and implement efficient system monitoring and performance optimization strategies to ensure seamless application operation.
  • Analyze server logs to identify errors, warnings, or other issues that may impact server or application performance.
  • Configure security settings, such as SSL certificates, authentication mechanisms, and authorization policies, to protect against potential threats.
Technical Expertise Required
  • Familiarity with installing and configuring WebSphere Application Server software on various target environments.
  • Proficiency in routine administrative tasks such as starting and stopping servers, monitoring server health, and managing server resources.
  • Able to troubleshoot and resolve common issues like startup failures, connectivity problems, or application deployment errors.
  • Experience with creating and managing user accounts, roles, and permissions within WebSphere Application Server to ensure secure access control.
  • Familiarity with monitoring server performance metrics such as CPU usage, memory consumption, and response times, and reporting any anomalies or performance issues.
  • Skilled in reviewing and analyzing server logs to identify potential errors, warnings, or other issues that may impact server or application performance.
  • Ability to configure security settings, such as SSL certificates, authentication mechanisms, and authorization policies, to protect against potential threats.
  • Able to apply patches, updates, and fixes to WebSphere Application Server to maintain its stability and efficiency.
  • Plan and execute patch management activities to minimize disruption to production environments.
  • Expertise in integrating WebSphere Application Server with web servers, such as IBM HTTP Server or Apache HTTP Server, for load balancing, caching, and SSL termination.
