We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator with expertise in PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL (MySQL), and advanced SQL performance tuning to work remotely on a long-term contract basis.

This role requires a deep understanding of database architecture, high availability, and optimization in enterprise environments.

  • Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL and Cloud SQL (MySQL) databases
  • Perform advanced SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and schema design
  • Manage database upgrades, migrations, patching, and version control
  • Implement and monitor replication, clustering, and failover solutions for high availability
  • Ensure database security, compliance, integrity, and backup/recovery strategies
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and improve database architecture
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, providing on-call support for critical systems
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including standards, procedures, and architecture diagrams

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience with PostgreSQL (installation, configuration, replication, backup/recovery, tuning)
  • Strong expertise with Cloud SQL (MySQL) and advanced SQL performance tuning
  • Solid background in Oracle DBA (RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, performance tuning)
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems for database administration
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
