Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Finance Officer Grants to join our team at the Center for International Forestry Research CIFOR and WorldAgroforestry ICRAF. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial management support to our grants team, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage budgets and actual expenses of restricted grants
  • Coordinate with donors, collaborators, and project leaders to clarify financial issues and provide updates on the financial and budget status of projects
  • Review and verify expenditures of restricted projects to ensure adherence to budgetary and donor requirements
  • Liaise with the Program Management Unit (PMU) regarding the development of Letters of Agreement (LoA) with partner institutions and project startups
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs) on budgets for partnerships, travel, supplies, consultants, publications, and other costs
  • Prepare reports on the specific projects' finances to donors and other users in compliance with organizational standards
  • Review and submit donor financial reports prepared by the Senior Accountant
  • Ensure timely submission of reports to donors
  • Provide restricted grant financial management support to countries' staff and units
  • Review all donors' reports from Country Offices, Units, and Themes assigned prior to forwarding for approval
  • Perform other tasks assigned from time to time by the Finance Manager Grants, Chief Finance, and Operations Officer, and Director Corporate Services
Requirements
  • A minimum of a university education in accounting
  • Chartered Accountant
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with an ERP, familiarity with Agresso Unit 4 and Vision XL is an advantage
  • Experience in financial and accounting services
  • Experience in project or cost accounting
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills in word processing, database, and other relevant office applications
  • Experience working with a wide and diverse network of groups and individuals
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
