Procurement Manager Role

Our company seeks a skilled Procurement Manager to oversee project and engineering items procurement, manage the procurement cycle in tandem with the technical department, and ensure that all procured items meet required quality standards and specifications.

This role requires strong analytical and negotiation skills to evaluate bids, make recommendations based on technical and commercial factors, and coordinate with vendors and expedite items as needed. The ideal candidate will also have experience defining procurement strategies, developing new suppliers, and evaluating existing vendors to meet company goals.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily purchasing activities, supervising staff, and allocating tasks. Additionally, they will maintain supplier databases, purchase records, and related documentation.

Regularly reporting to the project team and management on procurement timeframes and spends is also an essential part of this role. Improving inventory and purchasing systems and processes will be a key responsibility.

Requirements

A minimum BTech in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering is required. Additional certifications or degrees related to Purchasing, Material Management, or Supply Chain Management are desirable.

At least 15 years of experience in Engineering Procurement is necessary, with experience in the Chemical Industry being preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP-MM module is expected, along with deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.

Supervisory and management experience, excellent communication skills, strong critical thinking and negotiation skills, and strong planning and organizational skills are also essential.

Ability to work independently and travel to meet with suppliers is required, as well as the ability to work overtime when necessary.
