Database Management Specialist

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Database Management Specialist to manage and maintain our core databases. The ideal candidate will have expertise in relational database systems, database performance tuning, and cloud-based databases.

Responsibilities:

  • Database Administration: Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain relational database systems, including MySQL, SQL Server, and Oracle.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor database performance and tune queries, indexes, and configurations to ensure optimal response times.
  • Data Security: Ensure data security, integrity, backup, and recovery processes are in place and regularly tested.
  • Automation: Automate routine database maintenance and deployment tasks using CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support: Support deployments by reviewing database scripts, migrations, and data patches.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot database-related issues in production and non-production environments.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with developers to design efficient database schemas and implement best practices for scalable applications.

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Strong hands-on experience with MySQL, expertise in database monitoring and observability tools, deep understanding of query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning in high-transaction environments.
  • Cloud Experience: Hands-on experience with cloud-based databases such as AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL, or GCP Cloud SQL.
  • Additional Qualifications: Knowledge of data governance, compliance standards, and healthcare data privacy regulations is an advantage.
