Purchase Director - Solar Sector

Department:

Procurement and Supply Chain Management Division

Reports To:

Operations Director or Supply Chain Head

Key Responsibilities:

  • 1. Strategic Procurement Strategy:
    • Leverage procurement expertise to drive end-to-end process optimization.
    • Develop procurement plans in sync with project timelines and organizational objectives.
    • Maintain high-level vendor relationships.
  • 2. Vendor Development & Contract Management:
    • Sources reliable vendors for solar components and services.
    • Conduct regular evaluations and audits for quality, performance, compliance, and cost.
    • Negotiate long-term contracts with strategic suppliers.
  • 3. Cost Optimization & Commercial Analysis:
    • Design and implement cost-saving strategies to optimize procurement expenses.
    • Analyze supplier quotations and conduct thorough commercial assessments.
    • Benchmark pricing and procurement terms across the industry.
  • 4. Process Compliance & Documentation:
    • Evaluate and ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and project specifications.
    • Maintain transparent documentation and reporting mechanisms for audits and controls.
  • 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Closely collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, Finance, and Logistics teams.
    • Monitor material requirement plans and proactively address supply chain risks or delays.
    • Resolve escalated supplier disputes or operational bottlenecks.
  • 6. Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead and mentor the procurement team to enhance capability and performance.
    • Establish KPIs, monitor progress, and drive process improvements across the department.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical) or Supply Chain Management.
  • MBA in Operations / Supply Chain (preferable).

Professional Experience:

  • 18–20 years of procurement experience with a proven track record in leadership roles.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in the solar or renewable energy sector, particularly in EPC procurement.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • PMP (particularly for large-scale project procurement roles)
