Job Summary

:

The Mechanical Engineering team at Bechtel Corporation is expanding its capabilities to support projects in the Manufacturing & Technology sectors, including Semi-Conductor, Data Center, Battery manufacturing, and other business units. This position is for a seasoned Mechanical Engineering professional with a minimum of 20 years' experience in detail engineering of projects with technological expertise in Semi-Conductors, data centers, and other infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers and designers, providing technical support to the Project Engineering Manager/Project Engineer. Strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and a desire to innovate designs are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plans, develops, coordinates, and reviews engineering work within a discipline on projects of medium size and complexity or assignments in support of a global business unit.
  2. Coordinates and monitors day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, designers, and drafters.
  3. Executes process deliverables according to a set engineering design criterion utilizing approved engineering departmental procedures, codes, and standards, Bechtel design guides, and administrative practices.
  4. Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to Project Manager/Project Engineer in consultation with specialists.
  5. Reviews and approves key engineering drawings, calculations, bid summaries, and field change notices.
  6. Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates.
  7. Conducts performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions.
  8. Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups.
  9. Develops and assists in documentation for progress reporting, tracking mechanisms for team deliverables.
  10. Participates in safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP/SIL) and reviews compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
  11. Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work.
  12. Implements and captures lessons learned. Actively pursues value engineering, design, and cost optimization programs.
  13. Ensures that direct reports receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
  14. Interacts with global offices/home offices (abroad) and executes work on a workshare mode.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. A recognized degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university or a professional license in an appropriate discipline from a recognized licensing board to meet job requirements.
  2. Minimum 20+ years of relevant experience as a Lead Engineer. Experience working in Semi-Conductor, Data Center, Energy, or Power projects is an additional advantage.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Plans and conducts independent work within the Execution Unit, using sound judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  2. Ensures project/proposal activities are carried out with sound engineering practices and of desired quality within schedule and cost.
  3. Works for different Bechtel GBUs as per business requirements.
  4. Coordinates technical issues with other departments on projects, including constructability requirements and reviews.
  5. Reviews and develops standard documentation for use on projects.
  6. Trains engineers.
  7. Travels to support activities at construction sites, suppliers' works, or in other engineering offices (international travel also).
  8. The Mechanical Engineer will work as part of the Global Bechtel team and should have a basic flair for working with personnel of different nationalities.
