Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineering team at Bechtel is expanding its capabilities to support projects in the Manufacturing & Technology sectors, including Semi-Conductor, Data Center, Battery manufacturing, and other business units. This role is for a seasoned EGS Mechanical with at least 20 years' experience in detail engineering of Projects with technological expertise in Semi-Conductors, data centers, and other infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will lead a team of engineers and designers, providing technical support to the Project Engineering Manager/Project Engineer. Strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, coordinates, and reviews engineering work within a discipline on projects of medium size and complexity or assignments in support of a global business unit.
  • Covers and monitors day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Executes process deliverables according to a set engineering design criterion utilizing approved engineering departmental procedures, codes, and standards.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to Project Manager/Project Engineer in consultation with specialists.
  • Reviews and approves key engineering drawings, calculations, bid summaries, and field change notices.
  • Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates.
  • Conducts performance reviews according to approved procedures and holds career development discussions.
  • Covers assigned engineering work with other project groups.
  • Develops/assists in documentation for progress reporting, tracking mechanisms for team deliverables.
  • Participates in safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP/SIL) and reviews compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
  • Covers with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work.
  • Ensures that direct reports receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.

Requirements:

  • A recognized degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university or a professional license in an appropriate discipline from a recognized licensing board.
  • Minimum 20 years of relevant experience as Lead Engineer, with experience in Semi-Conductor, Data Center, Energy, or Power projects as an advantage.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Plan and conduct independent work within the Execution Unit, using sound judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Ensure project/proposal activities are carried out with sound engineering practices and of desired quality within schedule and cost.
  • Covers technical issues with other departments on projects, including constructability requirements and reviews.
  • Reviews and develops standard documentation for use on projects.
  • Trains engineers.
  • Travel to support activities at construction sites, suppliers' works, or in other engineering offices.
