Role Overview

  • The role of a senior backend engineer involves contributing to the development and scaling of high-performance backend systems.
  • As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs using Golang.
  • Additionally, you will contribute to the evolution of service-oriented / microservices backend architecture and collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and stakeholders to deliver impactful features.
  • Other responsibilities include improving performance, monitoring, and observability of backend services, participating in design discussions, code reviews, and technical planning, and troubleshooting and resolving production issues focusing on reliability and root-cause analysis.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience in high-scale backend systems is required.
  • A strong proficiency in Golang is required; Ruby or Ruby on Rails experience is desirable.
  • Solid computer science fundamentals — algorithms, data structures, and system design — are essential for success in this role.
  • Proven experience building and scaling distributed systems, APIs, or backend platforms in a production environment is necessary.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, monitoring tools, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and passion for building high-quality software are also essential.
