IT Services Market Researcher

NelsonHall is seeking a remote industry research analyst to work on IT services market analyses and vendor profiling.

  • This opportunity allows you to liaise with industry leaders and become a leading authority within your areas of expertise, advising IT services vendors on their offerings, strategic development, and operational transformation journey.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed IT services market analyses
  • Develop very detailed market analyses and profiles of IT services providers
  • Showcase thought leadership as a subject matter expert to clients
  • Conduct market forecasting

Key Activities Include:

  • Interview senior personnel within major IT service providers
  • Write profiles and market analyses
  • Assess vendor capability and produce charts
  • Attend industry analyst events
  • Support vendor firms in strategic development and operational transformation needs, and provide executive feedback on vendor positioning
  • Track vendor news and announcements (financials, M&A, contract wins, new offerings)
  • Develop a social media presence and promote research and insights
  • Update the market forecast annually
  • Help buy-side firms identify suitable vendors

We seek individuals with keenness to learn and absorb relevant IT services domain knowledge, a liking for MBA-style projects, and intellectual curiosity.

Potential candidates include those with:

- Deep experience in the IT services industry, especially operational transformation, possibly in strategic marketing/product management roles and bid support

- Experience in strategic sourcing of IT services for a major enterprise

- MBAs with a desire to become an IT services domain expert and advise senior executives

- Objective opinions and a willingness to be positioned as a thought leader in the market

- Strong communication skills to facilitate building relationships across the market and managing discussions regarding vendor capability

MBA qualifications are valued, but existing domain experience and enthusiasm are of greater importance.
