Financial Controller

The Financial Controller oversees the Finance function for a key location, championing and implementing property-wide strategies to deliver exceptional customer and employee experiences.

By providing financial expertise, the successful candidate will enable the effective implementation of brand initiatives while maximizing return on investment. They will also create and execute a business plan aligned with the property and brand's strategy, focusing on efficient execution of financial and accounting activities and desirable financial results.

Strategic Planning and Decision Making

  • Improve profit through cost estimation, new business opportunities exploration, etc.
  • Analyze information, forecast sales against expenses, and create annual budget plans.
  • Compile and analyze actual sales against projected sales.
  • Analyze differences between actual and forecasted wages for efficient budget planning.
  • Break down complex information into separate parts for better understanding.
  • Develop and implement creative and practical business plans.
  • Create an annual operating budget for the property.
  • Provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities.
  • Implement robust controls to manage business risks.
  • Maintain a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets and improve operations.
  • Analyze financial data and market trends.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive annual business plan aligned with the company's and brand's strategic direction.
  • Monitor and provide ongoing analytical support for operating departments.
  • Produce accurate forecasts to inform business decisions.

Leading Finance & Accounting Teams

  • Lead by example, demonstrating honesty and integrity, and advocate sound financial/business decision making.
  • Communicate strategic goals, focus, and priorities clearly to subordinates.
  • Utilize strong leadership and communication skills to influence executive teams and lead own team.
  • Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
  • Assign clear accountability to team members and other departments' managers, backed by appropriate authority.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals according to Standard Operating Procedures.

Qualifications

  • CA/MBA/Masters degree with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in the hotel industry.
