Linux Support Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled L2/L3 Linux Support Engineer to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality support and maintenance services for our Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide L2-level support for Linux in a mission-critical banking environment.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI DSS, SWIFT, and local banking regulator requirements.
  • Operate under ITIL processes (Incident/Change/Problem/Knowledge).
  • Maintain high availability, performance, and security; participate in DR/BCP drills.
  • Troubleshoot complex incidents and manage approved platform changes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement permanent fixes.
  • Tune configurations and schedule jobs to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate vendor TAC cases, firmware/patch planning, and validate post-change health.
  • Demonstrate strong documentation, runbook hygiene, and clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Ownership mindset with readiness for 24x7 support and on-call rotation.
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of experience in L2 Linux support or 10+ years in L3 Linux support.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems, including RHEL, CentOS, Debian GNU, FreeBSD, and Ubuntu.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
