This is a key leadership position within our engineering organization.

This role focuses on leading Rippling's PEO initiative, enabling small to mid-sized businesses to streamline administrative HR functions and provide their employees with better benefits. As a Staff Engineer, you will report directly to the Senior Director of Engineering for HR products. This position offers high visibility and growth opportunities.

Your role involves collaborating with product and engineering teams across various departments to build and scale critical product lines. You will oversee aspects of development, including product features and infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration and scalability at scale.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and maintaining innovative, customer-centric solutions that meet high performance and security standards.
  • Confidently shipping large features and improvements with minimal guidance, collaborating with the team on larger projects.
  • Solving complex technical problems that impact the team's productivity and efficiency.
  • Translating high-level business requirements into software designs and communicating them effectively to the team.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on code quality, testing, technology, architecture, and designs. Driving standards for code quality and testing across your product.
  • Mentoring junior engineers to help them grow in their technical responsibilities and remove blockers to their autonomy.
  • Engaging with business and technical leadership to strategize revenue growth and scalability.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 9+ years of programming experience.
  • Able to exercise discretion and independent judgment in performing duties.
  • Ideal experience scaling products from 0 to 1 and 1 to 100.
  • Preferred experience in Python, Django, React, MongoDB, and AWS.
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment by identifying areas of impact and pursuing them independently.
  • Infectious passion for solving real customer pain points.
  • Experience building scalable distributed systems.
Salary Estimate:

$170,000 - $250,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
