Medical Coding Specialist - Surgical Procedures

We are actively seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Coding Specialist to focus on surgical procedures. This critical role involves accurate and compliant coding of medical records, directly contributing to the financial health and operational integrity of our clients.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical coding, a commitment to quality, and a proactive approach to maintaining cutting-edge industry knowledge.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Meticulously code medical records, ensuring accurate assignment of diagnosis and CPT codes in accordance with ICD-10 and CPT-4 systems.
  • Execute coding functions specifically for records pertaining to surgeries performed, maintaining a minimum of 96% accuracy and adhering to established turnaround time (TAT) requirements.
  • Exceed productivity standards for Medical Coding for Surgery, as defined by internal productivity norms for both inpatient and/or specialty-specific outpatient coding standards.
  • Uphold high professional and ethical standards in all work and interactions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by participating in projects aimed at preventing revenue leakage while ensuring full compliance with industry standards.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development through participation in coding team meetings and relevant educational conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Graduates in life sciences with 1-4 years of dedicated experience in Medical Coding for the Surgery specialty.
  • Experience in Surgery coding is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated exposure to and practical experience with CPT-4, ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Current Coding certification with valid proof of certifications is compulsory. CCS, CPC, CPC-H, CIC, or COC certification from AAPC/AHIMA would be a plus and are highly preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of medical coding and billing systems, regulatory requirements, auditing concepts, and principles.
