Job Purpose:
As Deputy Manager, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the organization's surveillance function. This includes ensuring effective detection, investigation, and prevention of market abuse or misconduct, while safeguarding regulatory compliance and upholding market integrity through robust monitoring systems, policies, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Investigation and Risk Management: Supervise the investigation of alerts, suspicious trades, and breaches; ensure timely escalation to compliance, legal, or regulators; identify emerging risks in trading patterns, market behavior, or operational processes; recommend preventive measures.
- Surveillance System Development: Develop, test, and deploy surveillance systems; create surveillance frameworks and SOPs; drive the selection, implementation, and enhancement of surveillance platforms, analytics tools, and AI-based monitoring systems.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the surveillance team; ensure continuous skill enhancement in regulatory and analytical domains.
- Benchmarking and Process Improvement: Benchmark against global best practices; introduce process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency.
- Reporting and Compliance: Present periodic surveillance reports, risk dashboards, and key metrics to the Board Committees and seniors; establish and periodically update surveillance policies, escalation protocols, and investigation frameworks.
- Regulatory Affairs: Ensure adherence to SEBI, stock exchange, and other regulatory guidelines; liaison with regulators, interact with market participants, and act as the primary point of contact for regulatory queries and inspections.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Technology, and Business teams to ensure integrated risk management and swift issue resolution.
Educational Qualification and Experience:
- MBA (Finance) or CA/CS degree required; minimum 5-10+ years of relevant experience.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of equity and equity derivatives markets.
- Familiarity with analysis and report creation tools, such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI, and Python.
