Job Description:

At RSM, associates collaborate with large and small businesses across various sectors. They establish strong working relationships with clients built on understanding their enterprises and challenges. Associates work on multiple team projects each year, encompassing several aspects of any particular assignment not just one component.

The role involves collaborating with high-net-worth firms' domestic partners, preparing basic returns for Form 1040 and Multi-State Returns, and working on returns with multiple state filings. It also entails reconciling amounts in documentation provided by clients and identifying inconsistencies.

Key responsibilities include developing a general understanding of reporting requirements for different entity structures and the compliance process, as well as increasing involvement in developing innovative tax ideas to reduce clients' overall effective tax rates.

Associates will leverage tax knowledge and understanding of the tax preparation process to bring work to completion for review, stay current on tax legislation relevant to Private Client Service clients, and demonstrate awareness of differing levels of assurance as it relates to tax positions taken through writing memoranda and other written documentation on complex tax issues for business and private tax clients.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 2+ years' experience in public accounting with an emphasis in High Net-Worth Taxation.
  • Degree in Accounting or related field (Master's degree a plus).
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on comparative importance and urgency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Possess a strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
