IT Project Management Office Manager

This position oversees the IT project portfolio, enforcing project management frameworks and ensuring successful execution of all IT projects.

  • Accountable for IT Portfolio processes, including IT planning, portfolio governance, project methodology framework and resource capacity management.
  • Ensure project management standards and practices are implemented across the IT project portfolio.
  • Supervise and mentor the project management team, including performance reviews, career growth and training.
  • Create and maintain staffing plans for internal and external resources; make recommendations regarding long-term contractors or full-time additions.
  • Analyse project proposals to determine timelines, funding and required processes.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project teams throughout all project phases.
  • Implement effective project communication, including steering committee meetings and status reports.
  • Manage project risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure alignment of project goals with business objectives and manage delivery on time and within budget.
  • Employ agile/scrum methodologies while operating within the organization's SDLC framework.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field is mandatory. A minimum of 7+ years' experience in project management of complex IT projects is also a requirement. Additionally, deep understanding of agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Disciplined Agile, etc.) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification are necessary.

  • Background in Business Analysis.
  • Proven experience managing an IT Portfolio or PMO.
  • Prior team leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing external vendors and contract staff.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and meet goals, define schedules, allocate resources, and implement processes.
  • Strong ability to navigate ambiguity and bring clarity to teams.
  • Experience in software product development life cycles is mandatory.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services domain is required.
