Medical Director Role

The primary objective of this position is to oversee the overall administration and operations of medical services across various departments within the hospital. This involves ensuring smooth coordination between teams, including medical, nursing, paramedical, and administrative staff.

This position also entails supervising duty rosters, schedules, and availability of consultants and resident doctors, as well as monitoring medical service delivery to guarantee timely, ethical, and patient-friendly care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee clinical operations across departments, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, statutory requirements, and medical ethics.
  2. Coordinate audits and inspections for accreditation bodies, reviewing and acting on patient feedback, incident reports, and medico-legal cases.
  3. Lead recruitment, appraisal, training, and discipline of medical staff in coordination with HR, fostering continuous medical education (CME), workshops, and academic discussions.
  4. Represent the hospital in external forums, health departments, or medical associations, handling interactions with insurance companies, government bodies, and public health authorities.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Educational Qualification: MBBS (mandatory) with MD/MS (preferred) from a recognized university, MHA (Master of Hospital Administration) / MBA in Healthcare (desirable but not mandatory).
  • Experience: Minimum 10–15 years of experience in clinical practice and hospital administration, prior experience in a leadership role in a NABH/JCI-accredited hospital is preferred.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, in-depth understanding of hospital workflows, healthcare policies, and medical laws.
  • Proficient in crisis management, resource allocation, and interdepartmental coordination, effective communicator with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to drive quality initiatives, staff motivation, and institutional discipline, technologically savvy with working knowledge of EMR, HIS, and hospital ERP systems.
