Job Title: Data Governance Specialist

The role of a data governance specialist is to drive the design, implementation, and adoption of data governance solutions across enterprise environments.

This position focuses on enabling strong data governance, security, and compliance within cloud ecosystems.

The right candidate will be hands-on, able to lead projects end-to-end, and bridge the gap between compliance requirements and technical execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and manage data governance solutions for data governance, compliance, and risk management.
  • Define and implement data classification, labeling, and protection policies across cloud-native environments.
  • Configure and manage data loss prevention, insider risk management, records management, and eDiscovery in data governance platforms.
  • Integrate data governance with cloud security services for end-to-end compliance enforcement.
  • Assess current data estate, identify compliance gaps, and propose remediation strategies.
  • Support data cataloging, lineage tracking, and metadata management to strengthen governance.
  • Collaborate with security, compliance, and business teams to ensure alignment with regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation, training, and adoption workshops.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for data governance platforms and their integrations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5–7 years of experience in cloud security, data governance, or information protection.
  • Strong, practical expertise with data governance platforms, including data classification, data loss prevention, and records management.
  • Proven track record with sensitivity labels, retention policies, and data classification frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of cloud security and compliance capabilities.
  • Familiarity with cloud services, Azure services, Entra ID, Intune, Exchange, and SharePoint Online.
  • Solid knowledge of regulatory frameworks and ability to map them into technical solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design scalable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Good to Have (Preferred):

  • Cloud security certifications such as Cloud Security Alliance or CompTIA Cloud+.
  • Experience with cloud-based deployment tools and migration methodologies.
  • Exposure to enterprise-scale deployments, migrations, and compliance rollouts.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Power Automate, and governance workflows.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
