Procurement Manager Job Description

Job Overview:

The Procurement Manager is responsible for sourcing and managing the inventory of key raw materials. This role ensures an uninterrupted supply of quality materials at competitive prices and optimizes procurement strategies to support production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies based on production demands and market conditions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best terms and maintain a robust supply chain.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve any procurement-related issues.
  • Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations for steel products.
  • Collaborate with production, quality control, finance, and plant planning teams to align procurement with manufacturing needs and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and prepare reports on procurement performance.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Materials Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in raw material procurement in steel or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong knowledge of HRC, coated steel, hot rolled plates, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyse market trends and make data-driven procurement decisions.
  • Proficient in procurement SAP Hana applications.
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
