Job Opportunity: Linux System Administrator
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Linux Server Administrator to manage our physical and virtual server environments.
Key Requirements:- At least 4–8 years of hands-on experience in managing server environments, specifically with Linux.
- Strong expertise in server installation, maintenance, monitoring, and decommissioning, both physically and virtually.
- Extensive knowledge of Linux OS operations, including LVM, DNS, LDAP, and IPTables.
- Proficiency in hypervisor operations, such as XEN and VMware.
- Skilled in troubleshooting server downtime issues and physical server management.
- Familiarity with at least one public cloud platform, like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Basic understanding of automation tools, like Chef, and scripting languages, such as Bash or Perl.
- Knowledge of GitHub and Jira is preferred.
- Exposure to Prometheus on Docker setup and/or ELK stack is a plus.
- Understanding of central infrastructure services, including Security Groups, RPM, Rsync, Mail, Active Directory, Chef Automation, Nagios, Repository Management, and Monitoring.
- Ability to transfer knowledge to junior teams effectively.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Provide technical support to customers while adhering to SLAs.
- Manage daily compute operations, including events, incidents, service requests, change requests, and root cause analysis, following ITIL processes.
- Perform server lifecycle tasks, such as installation, maintenance, monitoring, decommissioning, and special configurations.
- Handle storage operations using NetApp-NFS.
- Manage packages, repositories, and OS images.
- Execute patch management using BladeLogic Automation.
- Configure and roll out server monitoring and alerts.
- Conduct performance testing and analysis.
- Investigate and resolve customer incidents through root cause analysis.
- Prepare documentation, testing reports, quality reviews, and knowledge transfer materials.
- Support junior teams with complex technical tasks.
- Participate in On-Call support, including weekends and public holidays, as needed.
