BIM Manager Role Overview:

The BIM Manager will be the technical authority responsible for setting up, implementing, and enforcing BIM processes and standards across all projects.

This role involves managing multi-disciplinary models, ensuring compliance with ISO 19650 and project-specific Employer's Information Requirements (EIR), and driving advanced digital delivery through 3D, 4D, and 5D BIM workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and enforce BIM Execution Plans (BEP), Master Information Delivery Plans (MIDP), and Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDP).
  2. Ensure adherence to ISO 19650, PAS 1192, and client-specific BIM protocols.
  3. Define modeling standards (LOD/LOI matrices, naming conventions, file structures).
  4. Establish Common Data Environment (CDE) setup and governance for projects (Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, Aconex, etc.).
  1. Manage 3D model creation, coordination, and federated models across Architecture, Structure, and MEP disciplines.
  2. Oversee clash detection and resolution using Navisworks Manage, Solibri, or similar.
  3. Validate model geometry and embedded data against project requirements.
  4. Support 4D (time-linked) and 5D (cost-linked) model integration with planning and cost tools (Synchro, Navisworks Timeliner, CostX, Vico).
  1. Perform model audits and health checks to ensure compliance with project standards.
  2. Validate IFC exports and ensure interoperability with multiple platforms.
  3. Maintain structured data environments ensuring COBie / IFC compliance for handover.
  4. Implement QA/QC workflows for all digital deliverables.
  1. Identify automation opportunities using Dynamo, Grasshopper, or scripting (Python, C#).
  2. Support integration of BIM with GIS, Digital Twin, IoT, AR/VR, and Facility Management systems.
  3. Evaluate emerging BIM platforms and recommend adoption strategies.
  1. Lead, mentor, and technically upskill BIM coordinators and modelers.
  2. Facilitate design coordination workshops with multidisciplinary teams.
  3. Act as BIM lead in client and consultant meetings, ensuring alignment of digital delivery.
  4. Coordinate with IT on hardware and software optimization for BIM workflows.
